Native Plants and Pollinator Gardens

So, why incorporate native plantings into your landscape? Here are a few reasons to strongly consider them:

  • Native pollinators (bees, butterflies, and other local wildlife) don’t recognize non-native plants and that makes it more difficult for them to locate a food source. Several of these pollinators, such as the monarch butterfly are facing the threat of extinction as a result.

  • Most flowering plants and many food crops rely on these pollinators to induce flowering and fruiting.

  • Native plants are frequently ignored in favor of industry standard non-natives, but North Carolina is actually home to a plethora of beautiful native plants that can fulfill the same purpose.

  • Your property can become a haven for amazing hummingbirds, songbirds, butterflies, sphinx moths, and (our personal favorite) the hummingbird moth!

New Vista can provide a plan to create a native wildflower garden, native perennial beds, or a hybrid of non-native favorites combined with pollinator-friendly natives. We know how to make it all work together to provide you with a beautiful landscape that welcomes nature and helps your local ecosystem.
